Young carers in Hertfordshire are awarded for their magnificent contribution to family life

By Danielle Smith.

Carers Trust heads award evening for Young Carer Awareness Day in contribution with Hertfordshire County Council.

The day is aimed to raise awareness of young cares that are under the age of 18, and the challenged that they must face for themselves by helping members of their family.

Teresa Heritage, Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Families said: “We want every young person in Hertfordshire to have a happy, healthy and safe childhood, creating a firm foundation for a fulfilling future into adulthood.”

She continues: “Becoming a young carer brings additional responsibilities to young shoulders which can have very negative long-term impacts on lives.”

Hertfordshire County Council has a goal of identifying and providing support for young carers in Hertfordshire and to their adjoining families.
