Add some 1930s glamour, a sprinkle of glitter and that dazzling live Jazz band and you have the beginning of St. Albans Fashion Week, with the Luxe Catwalk Show.
Entering the Porsche Centre, Hatfield, on Monday 27th October, you are surrounded by champagne and luxury cars, giving the event a well welcomed reception of excited chatter before the show begins. With showcases on display from a range of local businesses, visitors were dressed to impress as they engaged in some pre-catwalk browsing, with the sounds of the St Albans Jazz Band setting an elegant scene.
Vicky Taylor, Assistant Director said, “We are so proud to launch SAFW2014 with this 1930s themed evening. The talent of director Ellie Ophira, our beloved retailers and our volunteers is mind blowing. We hope St Albans enjoys what we have to offer.”
The catwalk show itself was beautifully done, executed with perfection and showcasing current fashions inspired by vintage glamour. The models, both male and female, were highly professional and walked the catwalk with a well collaborated playlist, including the Great Gatsby soundtrack to enhance the early 20th century vibe.
The fashion on display included well-known brands such as John Lewis, to the up-and-coming of ‘Standout’, a jewellery company which has recently launched online. You’ll be pleased to know that these sparkling gems are affordable on even a student budget!
Even the Porsche Design collection was showcased for the first time, as the catwalk saw a mixture of dresses, suits, lingerie and accessories with many a round of applause from the entranced audience. After the show, there was a chance to shop from the catwalk and return to the pop-up boutiques, splurging your cash for some high quality and glamorous products.
This was a striking start to St Albans Fashion Week, which we here at Trident Media were honoured to attend. It’s inspiring to see some of our local companies in the spotlight and giving back to the community at such an enjoyable and enchanting event!
