On April 29th at 5:30pm Hertfordshire Students’ Union and Trident Media are holding a debate between the electoral candidates running in Welwyn Hatfield. The debate will be held at Hutton Hall, above the Students’ Union on College Lane.
During the debate you will get the opportunity to ask questions to the people that want to represent you in parliament. The debate is open to students, staff, as well as members of the public and is expected to run until 7:30pm. There will also be free refreshments for all attendees.
Why should you come?
Going to the debate will mean you get the opportunity to hold politicians accountable, you can ask them questions so you can decide which candidate(s) will make your life better, make being a student at the University of Hertfordshire better, and being a resident of Hatfield better, and which ones won’t.
The Students’ Union have made an effort to invite all parliamentary prospective candidates for Welwyn Hatfield being (in alphabetical order): Anawar Miah (Labour), Arthur Stevens (UKIP), Grant Shapps (Conservative), Hugh Annand (Liberal Democrats), Marc Scheimann (Green), Michael Green (Independent), and Richard Shattock (TUSC).
Please bear in mind that this event is being held for you, so you can properly decide who you will vote for on May 7th in the General Election. So come down to Hutton Hall at 5:30pm (or before if you want a good seat or wish to ask a question) on the 29th of April and get ready to quiz the candidates on why they deserve your vote!
