It’s time for part two of our Freshers’ Alphabet! Here’s our N-Z…
N = NUS
The National Union of Students is the hub for students nationwide. Stay involved as NUS campaigns offer discounts and advice on student life.
O = (OMNI)BUS
Okay we cheated a bit here. Uno is the local bus service that will be your saviour as a fresher, as will the free shuttle bus between campuses!
P = PREPARATION
Don’t be that person that turns up to class without a pen or not having read the material. You’ll fall behind and end up winging it… Not good.
Q = QUESTIONS
You must have a million questions to ask about university procedures, protocols and way of life. Please speak up, we have the answers.
R = RAs
AKA Residential Assistants. Based in on-campus accommodation, these fellow students are there to make sure you’re rule abiding and safe at uni.
S = SOCIETIES
Societies are the best way to make friends, find a new talent or explore a passion. It’s a great experience and looks good on your CV!
T = TRIDENT MEDIA
This is your Students’ Union student media group where news, opinions and interests are voiced. Like to get involved with Print, Radio or TV? Join us!
U = (STUDENTS’) UNION
For advice on jobs, activities, societies, shops, wellbeing and more, our Students’ Union has got it covered to make sure you are too.
V = VARSITY
We all love a little bit of competition. 15 sports compete in Varsity at Herts, but the Athletic Union offers over 29 sports clubs so get involved!
W = WORKING
Many of you will want a job while at university. Balance your lectures first, but check out the Students’ Union for the latest vacancies.
X = EXHAUSTION
Yep, kinda cheated again. Stay very aware of your sleeping patterns and food intake as a student or you’ll end up totally drained.
Y = YOU
University is about you and don’t forget it. Make the most of every opportunity in order to lead a well-balanced and successful uni career.
Z = Zzzzz
Wow, being a fresher is overwhelming! Sleep anyone?
