By Nariece Sanderson – Head of Radio
Remember last year when it rained so hard tents were literally amidst a river? Yeah.
Well, this year it’ll hopefully be a bit drier! In fact, with these headliners, things will certainly be heating up…
System of A Down
This Armenian-American metal powerhouse is no stranger to headline slots. A Friday set likely to include banger ‘Chop Suey!’ and the likes of melancholy epic ‘Aerials’, System are going to bring the noise to Donington. Expect beautiful melody and intense moshing.
These festival giants have headlined stages at the likes of Reading and Leeds and Radio 1’s Big Weekend… Saturday night at Download will be no challenge for them. Often regarded internationally as one of the biggest bands that no-one’s heard of – Biffy are absolutely massive in the UK – and for good reason. These Scottish titans have countless hits such as ‘Bubbles’ and ‘Many of Horror’ – and love to pour theatrical emotion into their performances.
There’s nothing like some classic rock to encourage a mass sing along on a Sunday night. Aerosmith headlined the festival last year, and enjoyed it so much that they’re back for this year, making it their only UK performance. Expect lots of memorable and iconic moments from Steven Tyler and co. – likely to evoke sass during ‘Dude (Looks Like a Lady)’ and swaying to ‘Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing’.
