It’s that time of year again. The time for playing pranks, telling scary stories and dressing up, the gorier the better. And what better way to celebrate than with fire dancers Pyrohex and popular TV pranksters Dirty Sanchez.
The event, which was held on the 30th October, appropriately called Breakout Alternative Halloween, catered to students with less mainstream music tastes and featured songs from bands such as All Time Low, Kids in Glass Houses, Blackout, You Me At Six, Rise Against and many more.
The first act to come onto the stage was Pyrohex and they certainly caught everyone’s attention, not only due to their racy outfits but for their impressive display of fire dancing. One of the girls was using individual fire fingers to breathe fire whilst the other girl opted to use fire fans that really got the crowd fired up.
The next act to take to the stage were Dirty Sanchez whose act certainly lived up to expectations. They started the set by interacting with the crowd before using an angle grinder on some rather sensitive areas before proceeding to recreate a well-known stunt of putting drumsticks into an orifice that cannot be named. Those who were there on Thursday know what is meant by that but for those who missed the act, photos are available to view on facebook.com/blackmayo.
Not only were the acts worth coming out for, Breakout also saw its fair share of impressive costumes and make-up. My personal favourites from the night were werewolves, killer clowns, power-rangers, a shower loafer, and the entire cast of Kiss, as well as one boy with his face zipped open!
Breakout events are held every other Thursday and I’d certainly recommend giving it a go. To find out more about Breakout head to forumhertfordshire.co.uk/events.
