Yep you read it right! Only 100 days until Santa and his reindeer friends come and visit!
Whilst the Grinches and Scrooges amongst us bah humbug about the early sightings of Christmas cards and tinsel in the shops, the rest of us are Ding Dong Merrily On High and cannot wait for December 25th to come around.
And it’s O.K to be excited! It’s time to put the summer months behind us, crack open a bottle of mulled wine, and dish out a plate of mince pies and sausage rolls.
Without further ado, here are seven reasons why it’s ok to be excited about Christmas:
#1 Christmas Songs!
“You Scumbag you maggot, you cheap lousy faggot” are probably the most inappropriate but iconic Christmas lyrics. There’s nothing like belting out a few christmas hits like Fairy Tale of New York around the house, and it doesn’t have to be restricted to the festive month. Grab your Christmas Album off the shelf or stick Mr. Buble’s christmas playlist on Spotify and get in the mood.
#2 Terry’s Chocolate Orange!
I can’t be the only one who got one of these in their stocking. Waking up on Christmas morning to a yummy chocolate treat that you have to bash into pieces is a tradition I will forever uphold. Whilst the chocolate orange can be bought at anytime during the year, it’s always a treat I look forward to at Christmas.
#3 Christmas Jumpers!
It’s the only time of year when you can get away with wearing an awful, tacky, jingling jumper possibly knitted by great aunt Mable. It’s always great fun trying to find the most hideous jumper – personal winners for me have twinkling lights, jingle bells, and the odd pug on them!

#4 Mince Pies!
Up until last year I hated mince pies. I couldn’t understand what they were. When I heard mincemeat and sugar put into the same sentence it freaked me out. But last year was a good year. I tried one. My tastebuds tingled and then exploded with all the festive flavours. I now cannot wait until Christmas to make my own!
#5 Hot Chocolate!
Yes you can have hot chocolate any day of the week. But there’s something different about Christmas hot chocolate. Every coffee shop and cafe will up their game during the festive season and offer some of the richest, tastiest and most exciting variations of the drink. From mint and chocolate orange to black forest gateaux, there’s something for everyone to try.
#6 Decorating the Christmas Tree
Is there any other time of the year when you can do something like this? Nope! Nothing beats choosing the Christmas tree and bringing the boxes of decorations down from the loft. The best part is putting on the Santa Claus movie or The Snowman, and covering every inch of your house in Christmas decorations. The old nativity, the christmas scented candles, the decorations your family have acquired over the last twenty years – it all comes out to set the tone for an amazing Christmas.

And that leads me onto the final reason…
Whilst you can see your family at any point in the year, family time around Christmas time is the best time! Whether you’re away at uni, on a study abroad, or living far away; you will always make time for family in the festive season. All the reasons above are no fun if you don’t have anyone to share them with!

Now don’t listen to the Christmas haters out there. You can see that there are plenty of reasons to be excited about the festive season. And with it being just 100 days away, you better start planning your Christmas parties and presents!
