Christmas Hit Single: Band Aid 20 – Do they know its Christmas?
First starting in 1984 to raise money for the famine in Ethiopia, Bob Geldof’s song has been re-released on numerous occasions in order to Raise awareness of world problems. 10 years ago this month, the single was released as the 20th anniversary and saw the likes of Bono, Paul McCartney and Dizzie Rascal. Now in 2014, the single is hoping to reach number 1, yet again, under the name Band Aid 30, in aid of the Ebola Crisis
Christmas BlockBuster: Meet the Fockers
After the success of Meet the Parents, the film’s sequel was the highest grossing film over the 2004 christmas period. Meet the Fockers racked in a staggering $516,642,939 worldwide and has remained a favourite in the family-fun trilogy.
Biggest News Story: Boxing Day Tsunami
On Boxing Day 2004, a massive earthquake created a tsunami that caused devastation across the Indian Ocean. Over 300,000 people were killed, 141,000 houses were destroyed and 600,000 people lost their livelihoods. This was, without a doubt, one of the most devastating natural disasters and one of the most widely discussed news stories.

2004 saw the birth of Facebook, and sadly the beginning of the end for the beloved MySpace and Bebo….Yes we are that old. Mark Zuckerberg and friends in the dorm room at Harvard University developed the social media giant and have seen it grow to become a multi-billion dollar company.
